Games to Teach Youth How to Recognize Symptoms of Depression

23-12-2016

In December 2016 a Belgium organisation for the prevention of depression and suicide wrote a small article about the game we are developing with IJsfontein and the Trimbos Institute. The article can be found here (in Dutch):

Background information:

Together with the game design company IJsfontein and the Trimbos Institute we are developing a game to increase mental health literacy and decrease stigma for depression in adolescents. The game provides an opportunity for adolescents to be in contact with a girl with depression. Through this experience we are trying to increase knowledge about depression and where to find help. The students will learn by doing how they can support their friend who might be suffering from a depression. One of the most important things they can do for their friend is help them seek help from an adult. The game is scheduled to be finished in the summer of 2017 after which a large study will be conducted to test the effects of the game.
