New APA journal: Technology, Mind and Behavior

22-07-2020

Last week, our own Isabel was part of a panel that discussed a new APA journal: Technology, Mind, and Behavior (TMB). Further consisting of Nick Bowman, Shawn Green and Danielle McNamara, the panel discussed why this new journal was a much needed addition to the media psychology landscape. In particular, the panelists' talks highlighted the need for a more methodologically diverse and function-sensitive approach to studying technology use.

We're excited about this new journal and its focus, since much of what we find important in digital tech research is represented in this journal's policy, such as a focus on open access and transparency. We're also delighted to say that we were in fact one of the first researchers to publish in TMB, with our review paper on methods used in sociale media and wellbeing research. Another exciting feature of TMB is that they are committed to improving knowledge translation wherever they can. Together with the PubPub platform, they work to create fun, engaging, interactive elements for each paper they have published. While this is not yet in production, we too are planning on adding an interactive element in our review paper that will help further knowledge translation and engagement with the content, so we're very excited on seeing how that works out!
