November 26th was a glorious day as I became Dr. Marlou Poppelaars and was able to share the research I am so passionate about with all of those who attended. This book of mine ends in a ; to symbolize that while this end of my PhD adventure, my (research) adventures are far from over. So while I go in search of a place to continue my research adventure I would like to thank everyone who helped me along my path so far. In special my wonderful supervisors Isabela Granic and Anna Lichtwarck-Aschoff, the designer of my dissertation cover Nastasia Griffioen (GEMHies are multi-talented), and my wonderful parents and exquisite paranimphs, my sister Anouk and old roomie Babet.
